3D Singapore on the Web!

Yes, Earth@sg has just launched a beta service (http://www.earthsg.com/3dsingapore)for you to explore Singapore in 3D on the web. Thanks to Google's Earth Plugin API, we are able to set up the beta service. Note that you will need to install the Google Earth plugin to enjoy the web experience.

Asia Pacific NAVTEQ LBS Challenge

If you wish to create or extend your location mashups into the mobile arena, register for the Asia Pacific NAVTEQ LBS Challenge by March 7th !

The NAVTEQ LBS Challenge is one of the biggest location mashup contests in the world, giving out millions of dollars in prizes globally.

They are running their first contest in Asia Pacific, and the judging will take place in Singapore.

How to take part

You can easily enter this contest using the WHERE Developer Program. Your WHERE contest entry can be built in just a few days, using standard web programming (no mobile experience required).

Here are the key steps:

1) Register now with NAVTEQ. The registration deadline is March 7th, 2008.

2) Build your entry using the WHERE Developer Program.

3) Submit your entry to NAVTEQ by March 28th, 2008.

Proximity Search in Singapore

Now, you can search for other points of interest within a radius of your location, with the proximity search function at Earth@sg. I set a 5km radius around my favourite Esso station at Alexandra and it turns up quite an amazing cloud of interesting locations contributed by the commmunity. You can try with your neighbourhoods like clementi or ang mo kio and see what shows up.
